PRECARECY
Köperl & Winkler (int.)At the Subversive Fair we would like to present our portable recycling containers.
The cardboard boxes are designed and manufactured by us. They have four openings, each labeled with a recycling symbol: cans, plastic bottles, paper and non-recyclable materials.
Cramped by the carton and deprived of the possibility to move one´s arms, our appearance creates a contradiction between the appreciated practice of recycling and the confrontation with a rather humiliating occupation.
The attentive observer might also recognize, that actually all the drop-ins intermingle in the box - which can refer to the discrepance between the public moral of recycling and the actual practice of the recycling business.
This summer we betake ourselves with these boxes to big public events in the city of Montreal.
Most of the people take the official character of the mobile recycling boxes for granted but their reactions differ extremely.
Some encourage their children to make use of the containers, some ask into which hole their specific recycling-item has to be put or take photos of this new job- and recycling model.
Others seem to take exception to the extremely degrading and humiliating job. On the other hand sarcastic comments are not seldomly heard.
During the Subversive Fair we could also rent out the recycling boxes for testing them on the fair ground or in the public space.
