"Hello, I am the consumable-signifier-feed of tomorrow".

...another short content input - if there is interest, it may be passed on...

Probably our perception differs in this matter: contrary to the mission statement by the Subversive Fair I see it as a fact that being deviant, boarder crossing, provocation and the breaking of taboos, etc. are not "marginal appearances" but on contrary are the very necessary fuel of the "attention-economic, mass media information-consumption-capitalism"[tm] - whose avant-garde is the art world!

Of course large parts of this planet have not been TOTALLY reached by this reality, which is determining us in this way. And secondly there are still deviant codes which remain unbroken, and that cannot be integrated at all. And thirdly there is another view - the pop cultural view, where code-shifting, or effective and brute attention-economic-shifting come into analytic focus, and are clearly not irrelevant.

What matters for the art world is "hello, I am the consumable-signifier-feed of tomorrow". That's what I think. Even if your not such a "fundamentalist", the title "Subversive Fair" is directly aimed at these discourses - that's what first comes to mind, doesn't it? Selling subversion has been on the agenda since the Situationists, from Malcom Mclaren and the Sex Pistols to Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, from Che Guevara jumpers to recent Palestinian-wear...All this, recently also known as the "Creative industry".

Perhaps there still is a "real" (what a word!) - something un-integratable for consumerism - but soon the only deviance that will remain will be Nazi-coquetry and paedophilia? Or not even that, because perhaps those last signifiers of absolute deviance (=taboos) are already finding their way into (Guerrilla) marketing - as Matias Faldbakken has shown.

Perhaps you should invite him? (seriously!)
